Continuing Education in Your State—Where You Can Find It
ALA-APA surveyed library associations and state libraries to capture local opportunities for you to grow in your career. Contact the associations to find out the details and how you can take advantage of their offerings. The reports give some information and the topic areas of workshops, courses and conferences, based on direct responses or information gleaned from the association’s Web site. The survey was conducted by Melanie Gray.
Each report is organized by state and in PDF format.

ALA-APA invites state and regional associations and state libraries to send any corrections to jbragg@ala.org. Thank you to all who participated.
ALA-NMRT Career Mentoring Program seeks experienced librarians
Although the deadline has passed, think ahead for your chance to participate in a great new project from the New Members Round Table of American Library Association (NMRT) next year, to meet a new librarian ally, and to have someone to guide you as you learn the ins and outs of librarianship!
The NMRT Mentoring Committee’s Career Mentoring Program focuses on long term mentoring. They will pair up “newbie librarians” with “seasoned vets” as part of a year-long mentoring program.
The NMRT Career Mentoring program will last from October 2006 to July 2007. Conference attendance is not required, however membership in ALA is required.
For further information and to apply, visit www.ala.org/ala/nmrt/comm/careerpilot.htm.
If you have any questions, please contact Donna Braquet and Crystal Renfro, NMRT Mentoring Committee Co-chairs, nmrt_mentoring@yahoo.com.
