CPLA Midwinter Update

After almost a year, there have been many accomplishments to report with regards to the ALA-APA CPLA certification program.

  1. Currently, there are 66 candidates from 30 states (AK, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WY) and the Bahamas.

  2. Candidates are graduates of more than 33 library schools across the country, including Clarion University, CUNY Queens College, Dominican (Rosary) University, Emporia State, Florida State University, Indiana University, Kent State University, Louisiana State University, Pratt Institute, San Jose State University, Simmons College, Southern Connecticut State University, SUNY Albany, Syracuse University, University of Alabama, University of Arizona, University of Illinois, University of Iowa, University of Kentucky, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina—Greensboro, University of North Texas, University of Oklahoma, University of Pittsburgh, University of Rhode Island, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee, University of Toronto, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin (Madison and Milwaukee), and Wayne State University.

  3. Thirty (30) courses offered by 8 providers including two ALA Divisions, the Library Administration and Management Association and the Public Library Association.

  4. Twenty-five (25) candidates have completed one course already, and 10 candidates have completed two or more.
